With this message we would like to inform you about a change in the excluded area’s concerning the (excess) War insurance. We take out this cover through our reinsurer, NorthStandard, in the commercial market.
Looking at the recent developments it was decided that as of the 20th of February 2024 the Indian Ocean, Gulf of Aden and the Southern Part of the Red Sea will be excluded from cover. For the precise borders for this exclusion we would like to refer to the circular of NorthStandard:
This change has an effect on the Fixed insured as well as the P&I for the Charterers Liability. As of the 20th of February there is no cover for trips through this area. It is possible however to “buy back” this War cover. If you are interested in “buying back” this cover we can assist and kindly ask you to contact our Underwriting department.
